Meet Duane DaRock
Duane "DaRock" Ramos was destined to be a music legend. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, DaRock’s grandfather, Tarnarse Ramos, was a famous upright bass player that performed along such legends as Duke Ellington. At the age of fifteen, DaRock started rapping and performing up and down the east coast. While showcasing at the world famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY, he was discovered by Kevin and Amelia Moore, of the Moore foundation. His undeniable talent earned him the opportunity to work with Whitney Houston. Duane DaRock enjoyed some moderate success in the early 90’s and eventually moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to expand his career where he unveiled a true talent as a producer. Big Daddy Kane was one of DaRock’s earliest clients. Thanks to his skill and an intuitive understanding of what’s hot in music, DaRock’s clientele over the last 20 years includes dozens of Hip Hop’s legends and royalty. His musical saviness has landed him deals producing tracks and remixing songs for heavy hitters in the industry ranging from LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Common and Jay-Z to Tatiyana Ali, The Pussycat Dolls, Faith Evans and Shaquille O 'Neil. Five of his records have gone platinum including Enough Crying, which he remixed for Mary J. Blige. Another remix he did for Wisen y Yandel, Rakata, spent 5 weeks at the top of the Latin music charts.
Recognizing the depth of the Latin market, DaRock released Puro Fuego, his own Latin Hip Hop compilation album, in 2007. As one of the most established producer-writers in music today, DaRock continues to shine. With Letter to Big, co-written by Darock and performed by Jadakis featuring Faith Evans, DaRock’s music broke into film as part of the soundtrack of Notorious, which was nominated for the World Soundtrack Award in 2009. His latest collaborations with Jadakiss, Bottle Service and She Likes Me featuring Nicki Minaj have just been released and already racking up hits on the Internet and winding up hits in clubs all across the U.S. Both songs are part of his highly anticipated upcoming album, Club Satisfaction, which is due to release later this summer. The album also features Jim Jones, Cassidy Stlyles P and Twista. Always seeking ways to challenge his creativity, DaRock continues to stay on the razor’s edge of new music. His eyes always focused on the future, DaRock established his own Hip Hop, R&B and Pop record label, Make Da Plug Music. "This is a new decade. Fresh faces and new music are ready to bust out of nowhere. I just want to be a part of that," says DaRock. With a full roster of talented new artists, writers, and producers, expect for Make Da Plug Music to make its mark on the music charts.
